My First Time Becoming A Mom

As we are getting closer I am getting hit with all of these emotions again.

3.06 months.  92 days.  13.14 weeks.  2208 hours.  132480 minutes.  7948800 seconds.

This is all the same amount of time until little man's due date.

I cannot imagine not being pregnant.  I love it!

My mom has told me my whole life that she loved every second of being pregnant with both me and my brother.  I always thought she was silly and didn't understand.  How can you love the feeling of someone growing inside of you and making you sick and kicking you all the time?  Well my mom was lucky and was never sick and while pregnant with me, I never moved.  She would always say that I would just push on her sometimes but never went crazy and wild while I was growing.

I now know exactly what my mom was saying.  I absolutely love being pregnant.  I can't imagine not being pregnant.  I want to meet our son so badly but at the same exact time I want him to stay inside of me forever and continue to be my favorite accessory.

Sure having people be nicer at work is a perk because of him, but that's not why I want it to last.  I want to forever have the feeling of providing life for my baby.  Without me he wouldn't survive.  Without me he wouldn't be safe and sound.  Without me he wouldn't be warm and snuggly.  Without me he wouldn't be growing big and strong.

But then I think, without him inside of me, I can do all these things still.

I will still make sure he survives.
I will still make sure he is safe and sound.
I will still make sure that he is warm and snuggly.
I will still make sure that he grows up big and strong.

I won't ever have a first-time mom pregnancy again.  My husband won't ever be begging for ultrasounds at every appointment again because now we know the drill and when we get them and when we don't.  We will never experience our first baby together again.

This makes my heart sad, just as not having Baby H inside me does, but then I think about all that it means for us after he is born.

I will get to see my husband and son bond and become best friends.
I will get to see Baby H grow up learning how to hunt and fish just like his Daddy and Grandpa.
I will get to see my husband coach little league and help our son become the best athlete he wants to be.
I will get to watch my son learn how to sit up, crawl, walk and talk.

I cannot truly imagine what life has in store for us once Baby H is born but I know that as much as I am scared for it, I know that it will be just as amazing as this pregnancy has been.  Our son will be loved and cherished and reminded daily that he is amazing and exactly what we wanted.  We wouldn't trade where we are in life right now for anything and I couldn't be more thankful and excited.

Yes Deer

Hello! This is Chelsee this week.  So let's talk for a moment about an issue before I get into the winner. A TON of you linked up amazing post last week, but due to the rules of actually linking up a blog post and and not just your blog url I was unable to pick you. This saddens me each week due to it being a reoccurring event and while as I would love to pick you I can't unless you link up your blog post. So please linkup your blog post and not just your blog url.  Again, I hope that you all continue to linkup your posts each week because I must say that they are all very interesting to read!

Now onto the winner!
I am one that is sucked into anything DIY and especially scarves. Once I saw this post I knew that we had a winner this week. Cat provided an easy way to make your own infinity scarf, which I love because you can use household items to make it. I have to say her son, the photographer, did a great job capturing his mommy in her new scarf. I thought this was a post that you all would love especially since you could use it to make your own customized infinity scarf. I can't wait to make my own and I will probably do this with my mom due to her loving scarves as well! I highly recommend you head over and look at this great how-to guide!

Go check out Cat. Be her friend. She has a rockin' blog and a great sense of humor. GFC connect her. Tweet her today and say hello.

Toot a loo!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for us to read all your posts! If you can, please link up a specific post. It makes it easier for us to come and visit!

*Remember YOU can be next weeks winner! :)

26 Week Bumpdate

  • How far along are you? 26 Weeks and 1 Day
  • How I'm feeling: Great.  Baby Boy is kicking a ton now and I feel him all the time :)
  • Total weight gain:  Haven't been back to the doctors again yet, but last time it was only 12 pounds so hopefully no more than 15 by now.
  • How big is baby? Baby boy H is the size of a head of lettuce.  He is most likely between 13.6 and 14.8 inches long and 1.5 - 2.2 pounds
  • This week baby: is continuing to grow big and strong.  His eyes will be opening soon.  He has developed the color on his skin this week and lungs are still getting big and strong.
  • Maternity clothes: 100% unless I am around the house and can still wear regular stretchy shorts and t-shirts.
  • Sleep:  Sleep is still going great.  Still on my stomach and loving it.  Baby boy definitely knows when it is night time and lets me sleep peacefully for most of the night.
  • Best moment this week: We moved into our new house and are getting ready for our little man to join us.  Also, his daddy got to feel him kick again this week which makes my heart melt!
  • Movement: I feel him all the time now.  They told me I would and I am so happy that I do.  I know it is weird, but I always worry that he isn't in there.  But then he will roll or punch me and I know it is just his way of reassuring me that he is still with me :)  I love this little boy!
  • Food cravings: Cravings have definitely calmed down.  Things obviously still sound good when mentioned, but they are way less random now.
  • Food aversions: Nope.
  • Belly button in or out:  Belly button is still in - THANK THE GOOD LORD UP ABOVE!  It won't be too much longer we think, but I want it to stay in for as long as possible.
  • What I am thankful for: I am thankful that Baby H is going to be here in less than 100 days hopefully.  I can't wait to meet him.
  • What I'm looking forward to: We are taking our maternity pictures in two weeks and I absolutely cannot wait.  This weekend we plan on unpacking more and getting things together in the house so that we can have my baby shower there in 4 weeks :)

    Hughes Home - Yard Edition

So we are all moved in and now the unpacking and organizing begins.

I have lists of things that I want to do around the house but nothing that needs to be done right away.

I figured I should make, my favorite, a list to help me keep track of what I want done.

    I bring you...

    HUGHES HOME - YARD EDITION
    Back Yard:

    • Rip out peach tree
    • Rip out yellow flowers in 2 planters
    • Plant 2 fruitless plum trees
    • Build a large planter along back fence
    • Plant flowers in large planter
    • Fix sprinkler issue
    • Get a patio furniture set
    Front Yard:

    • Rip out 2 trees in planters
    • Rip out tulip tree
    • Weed 2 planters
    • Rip out big ugly bush in planter
    • Rip out nasty flowers
    • Plant 1 fruitless plum tree
    • Plant bulb garden around new tree
    • Plant flowers in 2 planter boxes
    • Get a swing or bench for front porch
    • Figure out where our American Flag will go - we are thinking some concrete with a big pole in our front planter.  We love America!

This is obviously a starter list and nothing is high priority at this point except for ripping the trees out.  We don't want shallow rooted trees in our yards so the sooner we get them out, the sooner we can get trees we actually like in the ground and start providing nice shade for us.

I cannot wait to get our yards looking amazing.  The yard was a huge thing to my dad growing up and my mom is a die hard an avid gardener, so I feel as though it is in my blood to love it too.

I can't wait to keep you all updated on the progress and make sure that you follow along on IG with #HughesMove2014

    Army Ever After

Hello! This is Tiffany this week.  So let's talk for a moment about an issue before I get into the winner. Now onto the winner! I had to hand it over to Elizabeth from Army Ever After's post, "I Won't Read Your Blog If...". To be honest, the title grabbed me. I immediately though, "I gotta read this because I don't want to be on the naughty list!!". I am glad I read it because it was hilarious. I am glad people exist, like Elizabeth, who can put into words what all of us are thinking, in a tactful and good-humored kind of way. I cannot do that. I would come across like a flat out capital word B. There are the obvious things most people dislike bloggers to do... horrible backgrounds that hurt to look at, fonts that make you squint... you know what I mean. But you gotta go read her post to find out the rest! Muchas Gracias to you Elizabeth for your post that made me happy.

    Things To Change When Moving

Earlier this week we announced that we bought our first home!  We couldn't be more excited and ready for this next step in our lives.

I have moved A LOT in my short quarter-of-a-century life and it never gets easier - at least for me.

I am the girl who has boxes and tubs of junk stuff that I "will go through and decide what to do with it"

My mother hated that part of moving with me and now my husband does as well.

So instead of dwelling on the fact that I am completely borderline hoarder status, I thought I would share a fun little list of all the things you need to make sure you change when you move to a new place.

These little tips are easy things that look great on a "TO-DO list"

    [1]  Change utilities
           - I put each one as a separate to-do ::since you have to call each one separately::
           - Cable/Internet
           - Water/Sewer/Garbage
           - Gas
           - Electric

    [2]  Change banking information
           - Make sure that you change all of your debit and credit cards to your new billing address.  It will make online shopping so much easier :)
           - I would include any investment accounts you have in this category as well.  401Ks or IRAs.  Make sure you update your address with these companies as you will need the correct information for tax season.

[3]  Change your address with DMV
           - We have not done this yet, but it is still on the list of things to do.  Currently both of our driver's licenses have each of our parents' addresses on them because we didn't want to change anything until we bought a house.

    [4]  Change cell phone bill
          - Our cell phone bill is still under my maiden name so along with our address change, I will hopefully be updating that little piece of information as well. :)

    [5]  Change information at work
           - My work has a lovely online system that is super easy to change any personal information on.  I need to make sure that my husband does the same since he puts everything to his parents' house.

[6]  Change address on pet information
           - Our handsome Hanky-Poo is chipped so we need to go onto the website and update our address so that if he ever wanted to give me a heart attack and run away went on an unaccompanied adventure they would know where we live.

    [7]  Change mailing address
           - They make this really easy now.  You can do it online and it only costs $1!  Super convenient!

    [8]  Change insurance information
           - Now this doesn't mean to change the insurance that you currently have sillies!  This means, make sure that they have your new address.  I will need to update my health, vision and dental.

    *******************************

I know that they seem pretty basic, but in all the hustle and bustle of moving, even the littlest things might slip your memory.

I hope these will help someone and just remember to always make a list and watch those check marks take over the page!  It is so rewarding!

What I Would Tell Myself 5 Years Ago...

    I was 20 years old
    I was single
    I was a party animal
I was a Sophomore in college
I was working at The Old Spaghetti Factory
I was staying up way too late
I was doing things that I pray my children won't do
I had the "best friend" in the whole wide world
I lived at home with my Mom and Grandma
    I drove a truck
I had more money than I could imagine right now

If I could go back I would tell myself a few things...

    Dear younger Sara,

Those boys you are hanging out with are no good for you.  Just wait a few more months and believe it or not the man you will marry and have babies with will come into your life :)  In fact, you have already denied his friend request once on Facebook, maybe you should look out for it coming up and not deny it again :)

That best friend of yours?  Well it won't last.  Things will happen that are both of your guys' faults and you will go separate ways.  As much as it will hurt you, it is for the better.  You find friends that have been there all along and will end up being a part of your wedding day and some of the greatest people in your life.

College?  Quit skipping classes so much and start doing your homework.  Although you won't "grow up" to get a job in your field of study, you will want better grades to brag about once graduating.  Also, this major change that you just completed was the best decision ever, so don't second guess yourself.

Partying.  Oh man.  Where to begin.  I know exactly what you do after your shifts at the good ol' Spag and they are so not good for you, and as much as you already know this you will stop very soon.  Remember that man I was telling you about above?  Well he will ask you to change your ways in this department and you will and it will be the best decision ever.  Who really wants to go to Olive Garden one more time for "breakfast" when you can't even handle the smell of pasta take your sunglasses off?

Living at home is the best thing for you.  As much as you want to move out because of Mom and Grandma, those two ladies will teach you more than you can imagine.  Also, enjoy the times with Grandma where you eat Subway and watch So You Think You Can Dance.  She is fading quicker by the day and soon she won't remember you, as harsh as that sounds.

Daddy.  I swear that this is the one thing that will be the easiest to overcome shortly.  The pain will never go away, but I promise you that once you are happy with, once again, said man up above, you will understand that he is always there.  You will get married and it will be okay that he isn't there.  You will go visit him quietly and alone before the wedding and have your moment.  He is always with us, just remember that.

Night Owl Syndrome.  As impossible as this may seem, this will go away.  Close your mouth from shock because you will soon be the lady in bed at 8:00pm.  No more watching the sun rise when you go to sleep.  The man you love will soon convince you that staying up all night without him is a boring way of life.  And once you get a big girl job and pregnant, all bets are off.  You will be begging people to let you go to sleep at 8:00 every night.

That truck.  What a stupid choice that was.  Of course, when you are 19 and grieving the only logical thing to do is to sell the car that you had no payments on and go get a truck payment on a piece of crap that will end up costing you more than it is worth.  Don't worry, in 2011 you will get a new car :)

My dear younger self, please enjoy these times are they are some great memories.  But remember, that these are the moments you will tell you children about one day and you don't want to lie to them about how mischievous you really were.  Keep your eye out for that man, he will change your life forever.

This week's winner made me think about babies, babies, babies! You see having so many friends that are having babies is making my brain go into over drive and wanting to help them decorate. This blogger linked up the cutest decorative canvases for Baby Nurseries.

Chelsea blogs over at Married Filing Jointly! She is a lifestyle blog featuring DIY projects, travel, faith, and marriage. Chelsea is a super sweet person that I hope to one day meet in person. She is going to be a Mommy super soon so make sure you all head over and congratulate her! She runs a super interesting blog and is a great writer, and I love her and her blog! Make sure you head over and check her out and while you're there follow her blog!

This post I found interesting. She shared the cutest printed canvases that I know you all will love. I am a sucker for cute little sayings and I am super happy she shared this due to needing baby gifts soon. Thanks Chelsea for this amazing post!

Keep posting awesome content! You make it so fun for us to read all your posts! If you can, please link up a specific post. It makes it easier for us to come and visit!

    I've Been Keeping A Secret!

So do you remember the great Hughes Housing Disaster from a couple months back?

Well things kind of got rolling again right after I posted that, literally.

That same day, Wednesday, March 12th, Ryan had a working interview at a job that he had been hoping for for weeks.  Ryan got offered that job on Friday, March 14th and we got the house hunting started again.

We found a house that we wanted to look at a week later and put an offer in.  Since then we have been keeping it pretty quiet because I didn't want to jink us again.

As of last Tuesday, we are officially home owners!!!!!!

To say we are thrilled in an understatement.

I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and losing out on the first house was really a blessing in disguise.

We are now in the town and school district that we love and can't wait to bring Baby H home to our first home as a family :)

Thank you for all of your encouragement and support during the previous devastation!  We did it!
