Gender Reveal Party

Do you remember that one time that I had a Gender Reveal Party and promised to blog about it??

Yeah, me too.  Well here it is... :)

On Saturday, April 19th, we threw a Gender Reveal Party.  We found out what our baby was on the Monday previous and kept it a secret from everyone but 2 others for an entire week.  It was definitely a difficult secret to keep, especially from my mom, but we did it.

We have so many wonderful friends and family that were very excited to find out that we are having a boy!

We had everyone wear a clothespin, that I had painted blue and pink, for their pick of what they thought Baby Hughes was.  Surprisingly, most people chose pink.  I would have thought that more people would have thought that it was a boy, but it just added to the wonderful surprise.

We had chips and dip and blue and pink lemonade.  The cake was made by my amazing friend Heather and was my favorite, yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

When we were ready to reveal we had each person take a balloon matching their clothespin pick.  Earlier in the week we had poked holes in the opposite balloons so that the guests who chose girl would not be able to inflate theirs letting everyone know that Baby Hughes is a boy.  Our plan didn't work out exactly as planned.  :(  It would have been great but because it didn't work out and the pink balloons still inflated people were very confused.

My poor mom was so excited thinking that it was a girl, it almost broke my heart right in two when I had to tell her that our plan didn't work and Baby Hughes was actually a boy.  Of course, she is still ecstatic, but she was hoping for a little princess.

Overall, we were thrilled with the way the party turned out and can't wait to bring our wonderful little Baby Boy into this world! :)

  1. Awww, your poor mom. lol! We did a gender reveal party for our last baby. It was so much fun! If we have another child, we will definitely do another gender reveal. Love the photos. So cute!

  2. This is adorable! We're too far from most of our family to set up a big gender reveal, but I'm looking forward to finding some creative ways to announce it next week. I'm impressed you kept it a secret for so long. We plan on calling our families right after the appointment on Friday and only holding it off facebook for a little while!!

  3. sucks the reveal didn't work. It would've been better if it had and folks wouldn't have been confused. I've watched reveal party ideas on youtube and there's so many out there. so many cute ideas for when the time comes

  4. Oh no, poor mom :(
Either way, it was a super cute party!

  5. What a bummer the reveal didn't go as planned. But your decorations and food are super cute. Congrats on the baby boy!
