Gobble Til You Wobble Y'all!

I have so much to be thankful for each and every year, but this year in particular I feel extra thankful.

I am married to the best man in the world.
We own a beautiful house.
We have food on our table.
We have two jobs that let us live a wonderful life.
We have the best yellow dog known to man.
We have family and friends that love us unconditionally.

Did you think I would leave our most thankful thing off?

Caleb Tyler Hughes.  The little heartbeat that makes our house a home and our family complete.

Gender Reveal Party

Do you remember that one time that I had a Gender Reveal Party and promised to blog about it??

Yeah, me too.  Well here it is... :)

On Saturday, April 19th, we threw a Gender Reveal Party.  We found out what our baby was on the Monday previous and kept it a secret from everyone but 2 others for an entire week.  It was definitely a difficult secret to keep, especially from my mom, but we did it.

We have so many wonderful friends and family that were very excited to find out that we are having a boy!

We had everyone wear a clothespin, that I had painted blue and pink, for their pick of what they thought Baby Hughes was.  Surprisingly, most people chose pink.  I would have thought that more people would have thought that it was a boy, but it just added to the wonderful surprise.

We had chips and dip and blue and pink lemonade.  The cake was made by my amazing friend Heather and was my favorite, yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

When we were ready to reveal we had each person take a balloon matching their clothespin pick.  Earlier in the week we had poked holes in the opposite balloons so that the guests who chose girl would not be able to inflate theirs letting everyone know that Baby Hughes is a boy.  Our plan didn't work out exactly as planned.  :(  It would have been great but because it didn't work out and the pink balloons still inflated people were very confused.

My poor mom was so excited thinking that it was a girl, it almost broke my heart right in two when I had to tell her that our plan didn't work and Baby Hughes was actually a boy.  Of course, she is still ecstatic, but she was hoping for a little princess.

Overall, we were thrilled with the way the party turned out and can't wait to bring our wonderful little Baby Boy into this world! :)

13 Week Bumpdate!

So I have decided to do some Bumpdates :)

I will not be taking over this blog with all baby stuff, although I am very excited so some days it might seem as though.  I hope you continue to read along with me and enjoy my little space.

Onto the Bump!

  • How far along are you? 13 Weeks and 1 Day
  • How I'm feeling: Great!  Just tired every night.

  • Total weight gain:  None so far! :)  I want to keep it under 20 if at all possible.
  • How big is baby? Baby Hughes is the size of a peach!  About 2.9 inches and 0.81 ounces.  Growing big and strong.
  • This week baby: Baby is still tiny but has fingerprints already! :)  His or Her vocal cords are forming this week.
  • Maternity clothes: Today is the first day I am wearing Maternity Jeans!  I have a couple pairs that I can still wear of my normal clothes but they are dirty and it was just easier to pull these babies out!  :)  My mom has bought me quite a bit already though so I am excited to be able to start wearing those.
  • Sleep: Sleep is my best friend!  I think I could sleep 12 hours a night and be good :)  I have had a couple of rough nights this week but that is only because I'm squishing the ladies.  OUCH!

  • Best moment this week: We have received our first thing for Baby Hughes!  My mom found the car seat that I want on Brad's Deals for a super good price so she ordered them!  They already arrived!  We are super excited!
  • Movement: Not yet, but I know that it is still too soon.  Ryan can't wait to feel him or her move though.
  • Food cravings: I want a panini.  I have wanted a panini since before I knew I was pregnant and have yet to have one.  Weird thing, we have a panini maker and have been to a panini place since then, and still haven't had one.  I think it just sounds good but I don't really want one. LOL
  • Food aversions: Nothing in particular, but the smell of things can really bother me at times.
  • Belly button in or out:  In
  • What I am thankful for: I am thankful that this baby is going to be joining our family and is growing big and strong.  All we want is a healthy baby at the end of this.
  • What I'm looking forward to: We are both very much looking forward to finding out what we are having.  We both currently think it's a boy but would be perfectly fine with either gender.  We find out in 4-6 weeks

    Thankful Thursday

On this last and final Thankful Thursday I am just so grateful for all I have in this life.

I could not be more thankful for a wonderful family who has always been there for me right or wrong.

I could not be more thankful for wonderful friends who I have truly grown to love more and more now that I am growing up.

I could not be more thankful for mine and my family's health.

I could not be more thankful for having a marriage that I believe in and have complete confidence in.

I could not be more thankful for my job providing me the income to live the life that me and my husband choose.

I could not be more thankful for food on my table every day and especially today ::my first year hosting Turkey Day::

I could not be more thankful for my husband.  He is home safe and sound this year and it has been absolutely perfect.

I am grateful for so many things every day and I hope that you join me in trying to realize all you have to be thankful for more than just the four Thursdays in November.

Until next year, from our house to yours, may you have a great Thanksgiving and start to the holiday season!

    Thankful Thursday

It is that time of the week again.  This week on Thankful Thursday I will be thanking a few special people.  These folks are the greatest people in our lives ::besides our parents obviously::  I hope you enjoy!

    All photos by Heidi Lin

These wonderful people were our trusty bridal party at the wedding 2 months ago.  Without them we probably wouldn't be half the people we are now and half the wife and husband we are.

Some of them have been in our lives forever and others just a shorter while.  Nevertheless, without them standing by our sides and supporting us and our love along the way we could have never made it.  There are people who come and go through our lives and it used to really make me sad and wonder what I did wrong.  I have slowly come to realize that the people who are meant to be in them will be.  I could not be more happy and thankful for the people in the pictures below.  I can't wait to see how all of our relationships grow and continue throughout the years to come.  I pray that these will never leave us for they are who helped build us.

    Thankful Thursday

Well here we are - another week has come and gone and we are back at Thrusday again.  And to continue from last week I will be thanking a very special person in my life.  This week is none other than my wonderful and amazing husband, Ryan.

I cannot begin to express how honestly thankful I am for this man.  He is truly my best friend and without him my life would be very dull, boring, and lonely.  I thought it was appropriate to thank Ryan on this Thursday because 4 years ago tomorrow, November 15, 2009, Ryan and I "met" for the first time.  If you recall we had our first meeting, hug and kiss on this day.  How appropriate that 4 years later almost to the day it is a Thankful Thursday?

I think besides being madly and completely in love with Ryan, I am so thankful for what he has done for our country.  Ryan is selfless and courageous and brave.  He has served twice in Afghanistan and is still currently serving our country here at home for at least another year.  I have always thought highly of military members - both my Dad and Grandpa are retired military men - and when it came to Ryan it was no different.  Of course people had their fears for me..."Why do you want to love a man who can possibly die while doing his job?"  My question to them is "Why not?"  Now I am so THANKFUL that Ryan was never critically injured while overseas - although he is pretty well-known for getting injured right here at home doing everyday things.  No one will ever forget the slicing thru the knuckles while opening a box thing or slicing three fingertips while opening a can of chili.  I digress.  His military service is just one more thing that I am thankful for and love him for.

Ryan of course, like any other person, has faults but to me those are only examples of how even though we aren't perfect - we are perfect together.  Ryan always tries to do the best for me and us.  He is always looking for a better job and more ways to help us live the life we want.  He of course made me the happiest woman in the whole wide world when he proposed and married me on the same day. ::that takes some balls right?::  I know that when I am with Ryan he won't let anything harm me.  He is my biggest support and the strongest bone in my body.

I am so thankful that he chose me to spend the rest of his life with.  It is truly amazing when you think about a man deciding on one person to love the rest of their life.  I knew it from the start that we had something special and we would in fact get married someday.  I couldn't have been more surprised though when it happened over a year ago now.

I can't wait for us to have littles so that I can have a baby boy just like his Daddy - loving to hunt, fish, shoot guns, be rowdy, and love his Mommy. But until then, I will just be thankful for the man that I share a life with and love so dearly.

Thank you Ryan!  I love you more than anything!!

    Thankful Thursdays

It is that time of year where everyone become extremely thankful for the people and things in their life.  I am no different and love what I have in life and couldn't be happier with where I am in it.  I, of course, am thankful every day and not just Thursdays in November, but what a fun way to let these next 4 Thursdays fly by and add some thanks while they do.

This first Thankful Thursday is dedicated to the one and only greatest woman in the whole wide world.  That's right folks - my mama!

This lady has raised me to be who I am today.  She has always been there no matter what and for that I am eternally grateful.  Now I know that everyone thinks that their mom is the greatest but I must say that mine actually is pretty close to the greatest thing since sliced bread!

My mom had me when she was 29 and happily married to my daddy.  Together they helped raise me and my brother in a loving household where we loved playing and living together.  Unfortunately that fairy tale life didn't last forever, which being an adult now I realize was for the best.  My mom and I got our own place and from then on it was us against the world.  My daddy was still in my life and he was wonderful but that is not the point of today now is it?  Anyways!

From 8 years old it was me and my mommy.  We are pretty much the same person minus the fact that I have a highly over sensitive heart and brain and I have that Mexican blood in me that gives me a bigger temper.  LOL.  My mommy and I learned to live life together and always make the best of it.  My mom did what she had to to make sure that me and my brother were taken care of.  Because of this I think my mom is a Superstar!  At one point my mom was working 3 jobs just so that we could have a roof over our heads and food on our table.  I would like to think that because of this I know the true value of needed to work and wanting to work for what is mine.  I do think that when I was younger I was a bit on the "spoiled" side but I blame that on me being the baby and my daddy.

There has not been a day since I turned 16 that I did not have a job and help pay for things I needed in life.  My mom provided me with the best life possible and I couldn't have imagined growing up any other way.

Now, for not so sappy stuff, let's talk about how hilarious this lady is!  She is seriously a one-woman comedy show!  I can not tell you how often the words "Do not make me pee my pants from laughing"  This lady is so funny and literally is the light of my life.  Without her I would be no one and no where.  She paid for my college education, made sure I was always staying above water and has always been just a phone call away.

She has saved me thousands of dollars in cab fair by picking me up from the bars at 2:00AM (such a great thing huh?) and always makes sure that I am happy.  Although there were times that were rough - A.K.A. my teenage years - she has always been the one constant in my life.

I can not thank her enough for raising me as the old soul that I am today and teaching me what it means to be a great person, daughter, wife, and one day mommy.

I love you Mommy!  Mi Monkey! Secret Squirrel!
